What is kite landboarding?
Kite landboarding beginners get a real rush right from their first attempt as they get rolling across the grass or sand. Flying a powerkite to harness the wind with a kite landboard on your feet you’ll soon be hurtling along the beach and powersliding to a stylish stop. Using your powerkite to pull you from a standstill to up to 40mph in the blink of an eye you’ll really get a feel for its power.
It’s the speed and acceleration that have got so many people hooked but the tricks are what keep the real showoffs coming back for more and rightfully so: as you get more experienced you’ll be able to launch yourself into jumps which feel (and often look) as if you’re floating through the air in slow motion. Combining this with spins, inverts, board-offs and even powered kitesurfing moves kite landboarders always draw a crowd.
Kite landboarding or kite mountain boarding brings together the excitement of flying a powerkite with the thrill of riding a board; taking aspects from kitesurfing, snow kiting, snowboarding and skateboarding, it can be performed either on a sandy beach or inland in a field or park. This sport has a very quick progression curve and you will be surprised how far you are riding along the beach or field with some practice.
As with all kitesports, mastering your flying skills with a powerkite first is essential as this will help you progress more easily when you start putting a kite landboard on your feet.
