Become a Powerkite Instructor

The IKO instructor-training matrix offers several routes into the profession of kite sports instruction and with the addition of the power kite, you can now fully develop your professional role.

Learn to teach the control and power of the kite through 2 levels. Start at level 1 on a foil or trainer kite flown on bars, and teach about safety systems and wind directions.

Progress through to kites flown on handles at level 2! You will also learn to teach location assessment and the necessary knowledge for students to kite safely and have fun!

Prerequisites to become power kite instructor

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Hold a valid first aid qualification
  • Have at least 6 months power kite experience
  • Hold IKO power kite card or prove equivalent level

As an IKO Powerkite Instructor, you are qualified to:

  • Certify students with the Kiteboarder Card
Teach recreational power kite to maximum 6 students/6 kites simultaneously
