| Fixed Bridle Foil Kites |

A fixed bridle foil kite is one where the lengths of the lines and bridles are all set and are not adjustable while flying. These kites do not have de-power, meaning the kiter has to carefully choose the correct size of kite needed for their level, weight and the conditions. Fixed bridle foils are generally used for powerkiting, landboarding and buggying, though they can also be used for snowkiting. They can be used either without a harness, or once the pilot is experienced they can be used hooked into the harness. Some fixed bridle foils are flown on handles, some on a bar system and some can be flown on either, depending on the design of the kite. Handles give the most efficient control of the kite, as you have independant control of all four lines. The bar system can be simpler to use as you don't have to control all four lines simultaneously. Practise on a fixed power bar is also useful for anyone going on to de-power foils or the inflatable kites, which all use a bar system. |
