Who is this course for?
The IKO Powerkite Level 1 & 2 course is perfect for anyone wanting to get into the world of kitesports who is unsure which sport is for them or which control system they would prefer to use. It is also ideal for people looking for a complete introduction to kitesports as it gives the skills and knowledge required for both handle and bar control systems.
It is suitable either for people who have never flown a kite before, or for those with some powerkiting experience who would like to gain the International Kiteboarding Organisation (IKO) Certification and the skills necessary to either enjoy power kiting in itself or progress onto other kitesports.
What the course covers:
- Basic wind & weather theory
- Choosing an appropriate location and suitable conditions
- Kite set up and handling
- Safety systems and their use
- launching, landing and flying skills
- Using both handle and bar control systems


What you need to bring:
Sturdy footwear with good grip on the soles, clothing appropriate to the weather. Remember gloves and hat may be needed any time of year. Waterproofs are advised. Snacks and a drink if you require. Sunglasses and sunscreen can also be needed at any time of year, especially for those sensitive to the sun.
